Welcome to our Blog about our journey to India
We are Carina and Lukas, two product designers based in Winterthur, Switzerland. For us, to design, means to get in contact with different people, materials, requirements and challenges and to find a suitable solution influenced by social and technological developments.
We are fascinated by the Indian culture and handcraft, so we planned our project „braiding cultures“. Fortunately the Swiss foundation Pro Helvetia supports our plans. Pro Helvetia promotes cultural exchange, initiates co-productions and supports residencies at home and abroad.
Our mission during our stay in India, is to build a bridge between Indian handcraft and Swiss design by combining traditional basketry and modern product design. Therefore we’re going to visit Indian designers, manufactures, producers and universities.
In exactly three months our plane will take off. So at the moment we’re still arranging and organising everything, we have plenty of ideas and are already very excited to visit this great country.
