Mata ni Pachedi

Sanjay Chitara is one of the last artisans of the Mata ni Pachedi (Mother Goddess temple cloths), a textile handcraft that is keeping in close touch with its history. It is a surprise that this craft has managed to survive in such a fast moving world, with its slow, complex and extensive process.

We got the great opportunity to stay two days at Sanjays house to learn the technique of his handcraft and draw our own Mata ni Pachedi. So we got an idea how much patience and time the artisans have to invest in their artworks.
